Dr Erin Saltman is the Senior Director of Membership & Programs at the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT). As a practitioner, Dr Saltman works with international stakeholders across tech, government, and civil society to build cross-platform policies and approaches to counter terrorism and violent extremism online.

ABOUT

Dr Erin Saltman is the Senior Director of Membership & Programs at the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT). She has worked in the technology, NGO, and academic sectors building out international counterterrorism and counter-extremism strategies, policies, and programs.
Dr. Saltman has worked in a range of regional and socio-political contexts, leading global teams and partnerships. Her research and publications have focused on the evolving nature of violent extremism online, youth radicalization, and the evaluation of online intervention approaches. She is dedicated to data-driven approaches for measuring and evaluating online safety efforts.
She was formerly Meta's Head of Dangerous Organizations Policy for Europe, the Middle East and Africa while also managing the APAC team; working with cross-sector stakeholders and building out online intervention programs in partnership with international NGOs.​
Dr Saltman holds a PhD from University College London (UCL) in political science. She holds a dual MA from UCL and Corvinus University as an Erasmus Mundus Scholar. She completed her BA in International Relations from Columbia University.
